Risk Perception and Evaluation on Social Media

This study aims to conduct a cross-discipline, meta-analytic review of research on individual-group risk perception and evaluation including risk misperception, distortion, amplification) on social media and the Internet. The study will differentiate between the Asian from non-Asian contexts, between the nature of risks (e.g., origin, scope, observability, familiarity, specificity, etc.), and between the types of risk information (e.g., memes, rumor, satire, etc.).

A key objective of the study will be to develop a new mass-interpersonal information convergence framework for risk information dissemination, communication, and perception on social media, and a Asian-based cultural risk perception framework for online and social media settings.
