Congratulations to the 4 teams that won this year’s “Optigram 2021: Climate Change in Asia“!
The teams this year were asked to submit proposals for a digital media product (e.g. artwork, videos, website) which visualises scientific data creatively to communicate risks, patterns and trends (e.g. how risk perceptions emerge and evolve).

Each of these 3 teams will collect data and focus on three separate areas in carbon emissions:
The teams will also be using different interactive platforms, namely a quiz, article and video, to showcase practical steps everyone can take to reduce their carbon footprint. (Update: Check out some of the team’s products here and here.)
Another winning proposal belonged to Nguyen Thuy Duong (Anita), who proposed a Climate Mandala browser-based colour-by-number game. Her proposed product would have taken the form of a dot mandala picture, visualising the number of deaths from causes linked to climate change in Asia, such as coastal flood, dengue or undernutrition.
