Visualising Obesity’s Impact from Childhood Experiences (VOICE) is a research-led exhibition by NUS that uses art and storytelling to surface the often unseen, long-term physical and mental health impacts of growing up with obesity.
Co-organised by the Behavioural and Implementation Science Interventions and IPUR and supported by RICE Media, the exhibition translates lived experiences – of stigma, shame, resilience, coping, and identity – into visual artworks and narrative fragments. Through methods such as photovoice, drawing, and reflective storytelling, VOICE moves beyond statistics to show how everyday interactions with family, peers, schools, public spaces, and social norms continue to shape well-being well into adulthood. The exhibition invites viewers to reconsider how words, assumptions, and “well-intentioned” interventions can leave lasting psychological traces.
