Dr Buurman is an economist with extensive experience in multi- and interdisciplinary projects. His work often intersects other fields such as engineering, spatial planning and environmental management. In the past years, his thematic focus has been on water and natural resources. Joost has carried out numerous research projects and published in several high-impact journals. His extensive consultancy experience includes projects funded by international organisations for governments and economic and environmental consulting for the private sector in South-east Asia. In addition, he was and is involved in the management of large research grants and research centres. Throughout his career he has been involved in education and training, ranging from teaching courses in undergraduate and Masters courses to executive education and workshops.
