New strategic partnership to drive interdisciplinary research and decision science
IPUR and the Institute of Behavioural and Decision Science (IBDS) at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) are excited to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that sets the stage for a dynamic partnership aimed at shaping the future of risk research, decision science, and urban resilience.
By combining their complementary strengths, the two institutions aim to advance data-driven insights for public good, drive interdisciplinary research, and champion innovative approaches to sustainability and urban resilience.
“This strategic partnership is guided by a shared vision: to deepen understanding of societal risks and empower communities through evidence-based research and actionable insights. By sharing and maximizing our expertise, skills and resources, IPUR and IBDS plan to collaborate closely to inspire and develop lasting solutions to some of society’s most pressing risks and challenges,” said Prof Leonard Lee, IPUR Director.
“IBDS and IPUR have the shared vision of developing interdisciplinary research that offers evidenced-based insights to address rising business and societal challenges. By forming this strategic partnership, IBDS and IPUR commit to collaborative research that help empower individuals and institutions to make informed decisions through behavioural science insights and public engagement,” said Prof Echo Wan, IBDS Director.
Under the partnership, IPUR and IBDS will embark on joint research projects and cross-disciplinary studies in areas such as risk and decision making and urban sustainability. The MOU also paves the way for staff and student exchanges, collaborative seminars, and the sharing of scientific and academic expertise across borders. From developing impactful stories and videos to securing external grants, both institutions are committed to delivering real-world impact through their research.
