Risk Listening: Youth & Risk in Southeast Asia

10 August 2022

In March 2021, IPUR and the NUS Office of Risk Management and Compliance collaborated to understand how NUS students perceive risks. This study was largely motivated by a lack of involvement on the part of students in having their voices heard and represented.

The project team from IPUR was Prof Leonard Lee, Dr Olivia Jensen and Dr Carolyn Lo.

Undergraduates were asked to give their views on a comprehensive set of 36 risks, ranging from more personal-level risks such as  to broader, global-level issues.

To obtain additional insights into the regional risk perception landscape, the study was also disseminated to undergraduates in target universities in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. Between March and August 2021, more than 2,700 undergraduates shared their views via online surveys and focus group discussions.

Key findings from the report can be accessed here.
