Partnership Background

By combining IPUR’s research expertise with Diabetes SG’s strong community outreach, the partnership seeks to empower individuals with diabetes, those at risk of developing the condition, as well as to raise awareness about Diabetes. The focus is on helping people reframe setbacks as opportunities for growth, thus improving their overall health and reducing HbA1C (blood sugar) levels. The collaboration also aims to raise awareness about prediabetes and what at-risk individuals can do to reduce their vulnerability.

This initiative is built on the findings of a study by IPUR and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, titled Mindsets and Self-Efficacy Beliefs Among Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes. The study explored how patients’ beliefs and mindsets influence their motivation and behaviour, which the research revealed a correlation between a higher growth mindset and better glycemic control (HbA1c) among individuals with type 2 diabetes.
