Community Resilience Through Risk Know-How

Event On: 29 August 2024

Communities around the world have to make decisions about a wide variety of risks. Risk know-how is a platform which helps individuals and communities around the world navigate information, assess risks and make informed decisions in their own context. To do this, we work with people across the world who have to regularly communicate risk information to their communities – community risk practitioners.

This session – part of the 2024 International Conference on Resilient Systems – will look at interventions which have successfully increased Risk know-how in local communities and how that leads to enhancing resilience. Through an interactive segment, the session will also explore the role of trust in conveying risk information to communities in the face of a disaster – how important is trust to successful risk communication and without it, can crisis be averted?
