Upcoming workshop on how to be more carbon friendly

25 July 2023

As a city limited by its small geographical size and lack of renewable energy resources, implementing the transition to meet the national climate target of net zero emissions by 2050 will require innovation and collective action. From investing in low-carbon technologies to forging global partnerships which support the development of infrastructure and carbon markets, Singapore is exploring a range of paths to carbon neutrality combining emissions reduction with removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Singaporeans can be part of the journey through their consumption and lifestyle decisions.

As part of NUS Sustainability Connect – a month-long outreach programme showcasing the NUS’ sustainability efforts – IPUR is organising a workshop on the topic of net zero. This workshop aims to give people actionable information on which changes make the most difference in terms of reducing personal carbon emissions. People will come away with a better understanding of what they want to engage with: green financial products, carbon offsets and other climate-friendly products and services on offer. The workshop is for everyone interested in reducing their personal carbon footprint as well as practitioners in related industries such as green and renewable energy, and carbon technologies.

What participants can expect from the workshop:

  • Meet and hear from experts in green industries about the products and services on offer to consumers.
  • Find out the answers to your questions about carbon footprints, offsets and carbon removal technologies.
  • Be a part of a facilitated group discussion to foster insightful conversations and get a well-rounded understanding of what it is going to take to achieve carbon neutrality.
  • Connect with the NUS community and explore potential avenues to support educational and research initiatives.
